Excel Fitness & Performance, a premier personal training club in Melbourne, Florida, is home to many youth and adults, athletes and nonathletes alike, looking to take their fitness and sports performance to the next level. Our internship program brings on 6-10 of the state’s most passionate and committed individuals interested in gaining the knowledge and experience to create GREATNESS in themselves and in others. Our internships offer participants an opportunity to work along side our team to learn and practice our system.

This elite-level internship is for serious individuals looking to enter the field of personal training and/or sports performance. The Excel Fitness & Performance Internship for college students is designed to provide you with a comprehensive learning experience that will dramatically improve your coaching skills. You’ll have an opportunity to work in a dynamic integrated model of adult personal training and sports performance training. Under the supervision of the Excel Performance team, you’ll participate in coaching a variety of adult fitness clients and youth sports performance clients including high school, collegiate and professional athletes. You will leave this internship with the knowledge and ability to immediately begin training and coaching at a high level.

The Excel internship program is very robust and exposes you to many areas in the fitness profession. Below are some of the highlights that you will experience during your internship:

Total of 200+ hours of instruction with the Excel personal training and sports performance curriculum in addition to administrative and marketing strategies in a 16 week internship that includes:

  • Adult Small Group Personal Training (2-6 clients)

  • Adult Team Training (up to 20 clients)

  • Parisi Sports Performance Training (ages 7-16)

  • Parisi PEAK Small Group Training (elite high School, college and professional athletes)

  • Introduction to the Functional Movement Screen (FMS)

  • Basic understanding of the Precision Nutrition coaching philosophies

  • Overall understanding of a basic dynamic warm-up, corrective exercise, and self-myofascial work

  • Understanding periodization

  • A 16 week course that includes reading, writing and video reviews

  • Weekly hands- on class setting learning

  • And so much more

The Excel Fitness & Performance internship will require a minimum of 3 shifts and 25 hours a week, including a mandatory hour-long weekly meeting. Standout performers in this program may be considered for hire at Excel. Applications accepted at anytime.

For our High School Interns, we give you the opportunity to complete any volunteer hours you may need to complete as well as the chance to learn about the sports performance and fitness industry and mentor younger athletes.  


We offer three internships throughout the year:

  • Winter/Spring

  • Summer

  • Fall

Hours vary based on time of year but include a variety of times including Saturdays, early morning, and evening hours. At times during the sports seasons we are open until as late as 9:00 PM.

All internships are unpaid and participation does not entitle the participant to a job at the conclusion of the internship


  • Strong desire to advance yourself skills

  • Eagerness and open mindedness in learning the Excel System

  • Good people skills, communication skills, and professional presentation to allow interactions with clients, parents, coaches, and other Excel team members

  • Ability to assist in day to day operations including sales, facility upkeep and administrative tasks

  • Uphold all of the Excel Core Values at all times

Minimum Qualifications for College Interns

  • First Aid/CPR certification that is valid for the duration of the internship

  • Able to participate in entire duration of internship for up to 40 hours per week, including the potential for weekend, morning, and evening hours as needed

  • CSCS, NASM, ACE, CFSC certification or similar preferred but not mandatory

  • Enrolled in Exercise-related college degree preferred but not mandatory

Minimum Qualifications for High School Interns

  • Going into Junior or Senior year

  • Reliable transportation
